What is vaime.org?
This site allows you to create shorter and easy-to-remember URLs from long ones.
How does it work?
Using the site is very simple: just click on Create, insert the URL you want to make shorter in the input field and click on the button .
When should I use this?
This site is useful to make very long URLs shorter: when visiting some web sites the URLs may be very long. For example, this is a long URL:

The new short URL is 41 characters shorter than the old one (22 vs. 63). This is helpful to send the link to friends or post them on your website.
Can I create custom URLs?
Yes: when creating an URL you can insert a custom word to create a custom URL. The word must be at least 3 characters lengh and contain only letters and numbers. In this way it will be easier to remember the new URL.
Can I create a link to a directory?
Yes: if the link you create points to a directory, all the subpages will be accessible with the vaiminimized URL. For example, if http://vaime.org/davide points to http://davide.cassenti.org, the vaiminimized URL http://vaime.org/davide/tag/georgia/ will point to http://davide.cassenti.org/tag/georgia/.
What is a private and public URL?
All the short URLs you create are available for anyone that knows them: by going to a vaiminimized URL you will be redirected to the long URL even if you are not registered on this site. However, if you are registered you can set any URL as public: this option is useful if you also make your profile public and you want to share links with friends. In fact, if an user visits your public URL, he will be able to see all the links you have created and set as public. You can change the link any time by visiting your history page.
What is a public profile?
If you register on vaime.org you can create a public profile: this allows you to share links with your friends or other users. By sharing your public profile you can show to anyone you want all the public URLs you have created.
Can I delete an URL I have created?
You can delete only the URLs you have created after the login: by visiting the history page you will be able to perform this operation. Remember that, when the short URL is removed, someone else may use the same URL to redirect to a different long URL. If you have created the URL without logging in, you cannot delete it.
What does vaime mean?
vaime is a georgian word (in georgian: ვაიმე) that means nothing: it is a interjection, similar to the english wooow. In georgian you would probably scream vaime when you see a very long URL.
And what about vaiminimize?
This verb is just a mix between the word vaime and the english verb minimize, which is what you can do with this website: (vai)minimize your long URLs.
